All Wales Manual Handling Passport (People)
Did you know that incorrect manual handling is one of the most common causes of injury at work?
This course has been developed by All Wales Ambulance Services Ltd to meet the guidelines contained within the All Wales Manual Handling Training Passport & Information Scheme.
The scheme is strongly recommended by HSE as it provides learners with an awareness of the safe practices in the manual handling of people, and highlights the risks associated with unsafe practices in the care sector.
This course delivers Modules A - F of the passport scheme, and provides a practical training programme for the care-based manual handling of people.
It is considered ideal for all employees in a care, support or nursing role throughout Wales.
This course is delivered over two full days (09:00 - 17:00)
- Manual handling injuries,
- avoiding musculo-skeletal injuries,
- relevant legislation,
- ergonomics, risk assessment,
- principles of safer handling,
- team handling & communication
- Inanimate load (object) handling
- Sitting, standing and Walking.
- Bed mobility.
- Lateral Transfers.
Annual refresher is recommended by the All Wales Manual Handling Training Passport and Information Scheme 2010. (This is subject to the internal manual handling policy of your company, and the resources available to carry out competency assessments)
Demonstration of acquired skills in the form of ongoing practical assessments and completion of a workbook. .
Learners should be aware that certificate attainment will be subject to participation in various manual handling practical activities.
