Paediatric Emergency First Aid Skills module
This course is designed for first aiders who have a duty to respond to situations involving children and/or infants in their workplace.
The course can be taken alongside any other relevant first aid course, or can be taken as a stand alone half day module.
Child care workers should consider the QA awards in either Emergency Paediatric First Aid (1 day) or Paediatric First Aid (2 day) courses to fully equip them with the knowledge and skills required when providing emergency aid to children and/or infants.
- child and infant CPR skills and protocols,
- infant recovery position,
- child and infant choking procedures.
This certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of completion
Demonstration of acquired skills in the form of ongoing practical assessments Completeion of one or more multiple choice question papers to evidence that the learner has understood the underpinning knowledge elements of the course.
Learners should be aware that successful achievement of this award requires participation in various practical exercises and subsequent assessments.
Some of these exercises and assessments, including CPR, must be performed at floor level.
